?ALSTOM to build fourth combined cycle power plant for Gas Natural in Spain
ALSTOM has won contracts worth more than 300 million euros with Spanish utility Gas Natural to build, operate and maintain a 400 MW combined cycle power plant in Malaga, Spain.
ALSTOM will deliver an integrated turnkey power plant solution featuring proven in-house technology, including a GT26 gas turbine, steam turbine, heat recovery steam generator and TOPGAS turbogenerator. ALSTOM will also be responsible for the civil works, balance of plant and the construction of a 13 km water pipeline and 5 km gas pipeline. Under the associated operation and maintenance contract, ALSTOM will provide full operation and maintenance services for a period of 12 years.
The construction of the plant will begin in July 2006 and is scheduled for completion in August 2008.
This is the fourth turnkey combined-cycle plant and sixth GT26 engine that Gas Natural has ordered from ALSTOM in recent years. In 1999, ALSTOM won similar contracts for two 400 MW combined cycle plants at San Roque (Cadiz) and Sant Adria de Besos (Barcelona). In 2003, ALSTOM won the contract to build a 1200 MW plant at Cartagena. All three plants are currently fully operated and maintained by ALSTOM.
Today, there are 79 GT24/GT26 units in commercial operation worldwide and the fleet has accumulated more than 1,880,000 fired hours. ALSTOM has more than 20,000 MW of electrical power, currently under operations and maintenance contracts worldwide.
