ALSTOM Power Plant Laboratories (PPL) focuses on ways to improve the efficiency and performance of all types of power generating systems -- coal, oil, gas, and biomass -- and the instruments and controls that support those systems. From fuel delivery to flue gas treatment, Power Plant Laboratories provides advanced R&D to ALSTOM business units and their customers.
In addition to supporting ALSTOM Power Generation development, we offer our technology services to other industries and customers. PPL routinely conducts analyses, tests, analytical services, and developments for non-ALSTOM entities on a confidential contract basis. PPL’s services and facilities are of interest for industries beyond power generation and have been used to support petroleum/refining and petrochemical industries, process and manufacturing automation, transport and other industries.
Located in Windsor, Connecticut, USA, PPL has competencies and capabilities on a wide range of advanced technologies with particular expertise in combustion research, electronics and electrical systems, materials and water chemistry, and process engineering and design. Each technology area provides key elements for successful power plant engineering and vitality for the development of new ideas and innovative designs for improved products and processes.
PPL maintains close liaison with ALSTOM global corporate research centers, universities and government R&D activities. This ensures an awareness and know-how of industry issues worldwide, rapid implementation of relevant research, and the timely dissemination of technology related information.
